Frequently Asked Questions

What are your location and the hours of operation?

We are located on the 6th floor in Robbins building, Room E-632. Our staffed hours are Monday-Friday, 9 am – 5 pm. The instruments are available 24/7 to trained users.

Do you provide training for your instruments?

Yes. We train users on various microscopes including confocal, lightsheet, and epi-fluorescent microscopes. We do not provide training for spatial-omic instruments such as Xenium or CosMx. Please go to iLab (Light Microscopy Imaging Core) to request a training session for a particular instrument. Once you are trained, you can use the instrument 24/7 after booking time slots in iLab.

How do I sign up for an instrument?

Go to iLab and select an instrument and a time slot under “Schedule Equipment” tab if you are already trained, or request a consultation / training session for a specific instrument under “Request Services” tab. The pricing for all our services is also listed there under “Price List“, “Assistance services (4)” heading.

How do I sign up for NanoZoomer Digital Slide Scanner?

Submit a request via iLab first. Then email us at [email protected] to set up a time to drop off your slides. Once the work is completed, we will notify you via email. We can then set up a time for you to pick up your slides as well as retrieve your data (please bring your own USB).

Do you provide workstation / remote data storage?

Yes. Trained users are welcome to come to the Core and use the workstation after booking a time slot in iLab. We offer Lambda Vector, analysis software like Imaris, and also provide 250 TB of remote data storage.
